ALBERT CITY FALL NEWSLETTER 2020
2ND ADDITION

We are coming to your homes and businesses this fall to update you on some more news for our town.

As of November 2020, our current garbage hauler, Grow Garbage is resigning as our residential garbage hauler and the council has hired CRS (Carroll Recycling Service) out of Carroll Iowa to take over as our solid waste contractor.

RESIDENTAL, CHURCHES, APARTMENT COMPLEXES, AND INDEPENDENT LIVING CHANGES ON GARBAGE
The new rate of $23.00 a month will go into effect November 16.  CRS will provide each household with 1 – 95 gallon container for their garbage (which will eliminate the issues with cats, dogs, wild animals getting into garbage bags) and 1 – 95 gallon container for their recycling and will be dropping these containers off at your residence in the next few weeks so you will no longer be able to use your own containers.  All garbage must be bagged and placed in the garbage container.  All recyclables must be placed loosely in the recycling container.
Garbage and recycling collection will be on Mondays ONLY year-round from this point on.  You will need to have both recycling & garbage containers to the curb before 6:30 AM on Mondays.  The containers can be placed at the curb no more than 12 hours in advance of the regularly scheduled collection day and shall be promptly removed from the curb within 12 hours following collection.  If the Monday falls on a holiday then we will have collection on Tuesday during that time.
These containers belong to CRS and will need to stay with the property if you move.  If you need a repair to the container, you will need to call CRS at 712-792-0101.  If it is determined the damage was caused due to improper use or placement of the container the resident will be charged $75.00 for a replacement container.
CRS and the city of Albert City strongly encourage recycling (see the enclosed list).  The more we recycle correctly the less it can cost to get rid of.  Also keep in mind that the garbage truck has a camera in it so the carrier can see if things are going in the truck that are not recyclable material.  If that happens the city will notify the resident and ask them to correct their error.  We all will need to make a conscientious effort to do our best at recycling by using the list enclosed.  Make sure all items are cleaned and dried, cardboard cut up and placed in the container.  No pizza boxes since these have oils on them and can contaminate the recyclables.  No styrofoam or plastic bags such as Walmart, Fareway, HyVee etc. The best thing to remember is “When in doubt throw it out”.
If you are needing to rent a dumpster for cleaning out a house or remodeling you may still call Grow Garbage at 712-260-0059 for those needs.

BUSINESS CHANGES
For businesses, the city will charge a $5.00 landfill fee per dumpster at your business.  CRS or Grow Garbage has, or will be contacting you regarding what kind of garbage service you may need for your business.

SNOW ORDINANCE IN PLACE
Please keep in mind beginning November 1 thru March 31 there is to be no parking on the streets from 12 midnight to 6 AM during this time frame whether there is snow on the ground or not.  You could receive a ticket of $15.00 from the sheriff department for violating this ordinance.

Please keep in mind the building at city hall is still locked but if you have questions, please call 712-843-5613.  Have a safe holiday season.    The city of Albert City
