ALBERT CITY NEWSLETTERSPRING 2024Spring is upon us. We want to share with you some things that may or may not affect you at this time of writing. WAYS TO PAY YOUR BILL: You may also leave your payments in the drop off box, mail it in, or pay on line at https://otc.cdc.nicusa.com/p/iowa/City%20of%20Albert%20City/ YARD & TREE BRANCH CLEAN UP: With spring upon us it will soon be time for yard work. Please keep in mind that yards are to be kept at a maximum of 6" tall. When mowing, make sure the grass does not get out on the street as this will clog our storm sewer. If you have leaves to get rid of, you may burn them on the ground at your residence (keep in mind the winds and moisture) and please be courteous to your neighbors. You also may place them in the concrete bunker labeled “STICKS, YARDWASTE” in the alleyway behind city hall. DO NOT PLACE ANY BAGS IN THESE PILES. LEAVES & STICKS ONLY!!!! We are starting to pick up limbs and branches now. Keep in mind not to have any crotches or limbs larger than 4" in diameter. If you have a tangled pile it will be left. If our employee spends more than 15 minutes on your pile you will be billed $80.00 an hour in 15-minute increments. CLEAN UP DAYS: The council has set May 3-5, 2024 as our spring cleanup days. This is a good way to get rid of junk you may have accumulated over the winter. We will have some dumpsters staged in the parking lot by the post office and labeled as to what items to place in each of them. Please follow this closely. This is not a place to get rid of regular garbage. This is for junk only. This is for town residents only. PLEASE NOTE THIS YEARWE WILL NOT ACCEPT TIRES, PAINT, BATTERIES, TELEVISIONS OR PROPANE TANKS. PLEASE TAKE HEADE TO THESE RESTRICTED ITEMS. If you would like you can always call Arny Grow at 712-260-0059 to rent a dumpster if that works better for you. After clean up days are over the city will go around checking properties for junk and junked vehicles so please make sure you take advantage of clean up days to avoid receiving a letter. If you have junk cars on your lot please remove them from your property or place them in an enclosed building. GARBAGE PICKUP: We have garbage pickup on Mondays for both the recycling and regular garbage. Please have your containers at the curb by 6:00 AM. Make sure to place containers with arrows facing street side. You may place the containers at the curb 12 hours before the pickup and must be removed from the curb after the garbage company has been through. If you do not comply you may be fined $25.00 if they are not placed back on your property. RECYCLING GUIDELINES: The following is a list of recyclable items.
